Why Habits Are More Important Than Motivation for Sustained Fitness Results
Build the habits, get the results
Just the other day I was looking back at my strength training in 2023.
I logged somewhere around 225 workouts during the year.
Some of these were strength training sessions while some of these were cardio sessions.
That comes out to an average of 4.3 workouts a week over the course of the year.
But here is the crazy part…
When I think back at the year and ask myself how many of those workouts do you think I wanted to do, it’s a much different number.
I would guess I wanted to workout maybe a handful a month or 1-2 workouts each week.
Maybe 100 workouts out of those 225 were workouts that I was motivated to do.
Which is why you can’t rely on motivation when it comes to your exercise routine.
Instead, you have to build the habits.
